Unfortunately there is no patch available and my attempts of hacking a patch did not work. However, it appears the 32-bit version of SimCity Deluxe for Windows 95 has the same problem. I tried the patch and it works! I can now play SimCity 2000 in Windows 7 without emulation. Deep down in the comments section a person by the name of MRC released a patch for the 32-bit deluxe version of SimCity 2000 that fixes the crashing (he removed useless commands before loading the save/load dialog boxes). On it he provides instructions to get the game running on 64-bit windows (copy files, make registry entries). While researching installing the game for 64-bit Windows, I came across Ramon van Belzen’s blog post on SimCity 2000 on Windows 7 (圆4). I tried the game in Windows XP Mode and the Network Edition both of which worked poorly (XP Mode could not run in “Invisible Mode”) GOG.com is selling the game but it was the DOS version packaged in DOSBox. Not ideal when you want to make a new city. A temp solution I came up with was to double click on the city to load it in the game directly and use Save (not Save As) when playing the game. When trying to fix the problem I discovered that The Urban Renewal Kit that comes with the game doesn’t suffer from the problem. Instead the program would close silently. Before we proceed to the video, we must note that the operating system is twenty two years old. The hacker not only runs Windows 95 on the device but also plays Simcity 2000. The trick was performed by the YouTuber Hacking Jules who has managed to put Windows 95 on the iPhone X. I'm on windows 8.1 64-bit and it works well. Run the patch and be sure to check the box that says Windows 7 save/load patch (assuming you're on windows 7 or 8). Later on in college I had an iBook that I recently dug out of the closet, added an SSD to, maxed out the RAM, and set it up for my son to play a ton of the old games that I used to play as a kid. Since I have the Deluxe/Collector’s Edition which has a Windows 32-bit executable, I decided to give it a go. Copy the SC2K folder from x:\WIN95 (x being the drive with the Simcity CD) to the same directory the patch is extracted to. I played a TON of SimCity 2000 as a kid on our family PC running Windows 95. Shortly after I installed Windows 7 (32-bit) on my machine ages ago, I wanted to play an old game and I decided upon SimCity 2000.
